Large deformation in A ~ 170 nuclei at high excitation energies
The "/-ray decay of the giant dipole resonance ( G D R ) buil t on highly excited states has not only become a very impor tan t tool for the study o f nuclear shape effects as a function o f tempera ture and angular m o m e n t u m [ 1 ], but is also sensit ive to react ion dynamical effects [2 ]. For example, a reduct ion of the fission probabi l i ty at the early stages of the decay of a high...
متن کاملQuasi-elastic Nuclear Scattering at High Energies
The quasi-elastic scattering of two nuclei is considered in the highenergy optical model. Energy loss and momentum transfer spectra for projectile ions are evaluated in terms of an inelastic multiplescattering series corresponding to multiple knockout of target nucleons. The leading-order correction to the coherent projectile approximation is evaluated. Calculations with uncorrelated wave funct...
متن کاملNuclear Diffractive Structure Functions at High Energies
A future high-energy electron-ion collider would explore the non-linear weakly-coupled regime of QCD, and test the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) approach to high-energy scattering. Hard diffraction in deep inelastic scattering off nuclei will provide many fundamental measurements. In this work, the nuclear diffractive structure function F 2,A is predicted in the CGC framework, and the features o...
متن کاملA New Approach to Nuclear Collisions at RHIC Energies
We present a new parton model approach for nuclear collisions at RHIC energies (and beyond). It is a selfconsistent treatment using the same formalism for calculating cross sections like σtot or σinel and, on the other hand, particle production. Actually, the latter one is based on an expression for the total cross section, expanded in terms of cut Feynman diagrams. Dominant diagrams are assume...
متن کاملGluon mini-jet production in nuclear collisions at high energies
We show explicitly that the leading soft gluon pT distribution, predicted by Kovner, McLerran, and Weigert after solving classical Yang-Mills equations, can be understood in terms of conventional QCD perturbation theory. We also demonstrate that the key logarithm in their result represents the logarithm in DGLAP evolution equations. PACS numbers: 12.38.Bx, 12.38.Mh, 24.85.+p Typeset using REVTEX
